01.12.2002 WINTERBOTTOM LEADS SPECTRUM CHARGE AT SANDOWN
New South Welshman Mark Winterbottom has won an exciting Formula Ford round at
Sandown Raceway (Victoria) ahead of Victorians Tim Macrow and Daniel Reinhardt.
"It was great racing all weekend and it’s fantastic for the Borland Racing team
to have three Spectrums on the podium," said Winterbottom. "We’ve been lucky enough
to have some Camp Quality families as our guests this weekend, and as token of
my appreciation for their support I’ll be donating my prize money from this round
to Camp Quality."
An excellent start from Reinhardt in race one propelled him into third place
at the first corner behind Winterbottom and Macrow while Tom Ceveri (Van Diemen)
slipped back one place into fifth. The Spectrums of Winterbottom, Macrow and Reinhardt
were soon engaged in an enthralling battle for the lead with 16 year old Tony
D’Alberto (Mygale) in fourth ahead of New Zealand’s Robbie Henderson (Van Diemen)
after Ceveri spun on lap four Con....
