A field of 36 Formula Fords lined up on the grid to compete for the inaugural Formula Ford Cup which was run as a support event at the A1 Grand Prix of Nations at Eastern Creek Raceway this weekend. Queenslander John Martin at the wheel of his G K Martin Pty Ltd Spectrum 010B claimed the Cup with two wins and a second. The reigning Victorian state champion, Martin has been chosen to compete in the national Formula Ford championship in 2006 as a CAMS Rising Star driver.
Victorian Shane Price (Bosch/Caltex Spectrum 010B) claimed second place honours with two seconds and a win in race two. In September Price had secured second place in the 2005 Ford Racing Australian Formula Ford Championship and was also awarded the Avon Tyres Rookie of the Year title.
