In the late 1980's, a combination of declining F2 and F3 fields and the advent of carbon fibre monocoque construction made the small scale local manufacture of these cars unviable. The Australian Formula Ford Championship meanwhile was growing in popularity and providing very strong competition. With its regulations based around a tubular steel spaceframe chassis, it was the logical choice for Michael Borland to build a racing car of his own design.
The chassis is produced under the Spectrum name and since its arrival in 1986, it has established an enviable racing record both in its native Australia and internationally.
Borland Racing Developments prides itself on delivering a highly developed racing package. From the factory specified Penske Racing dampers to the aircraft quality NMB rod ends and spherical bearings, Spectrum racing cars are designed to win, built with the highest quality components and represent sound value for money. The factory offers comprehensive support with spare parts, service and advice wherever the cars are campaigned, making the Spectrum the obvious choice for serious Formula Ford competitors. |
