F2000 started in Europe as a progression from Formula Ford; traditionally as a pathway to F3 and then F1. The category found its heartland in the USA where it enjoys a healthy reputation as a cost effective stepping stone category.

During 2008, BRD commenced development work on the Spectrum F2000. Based on the hugely successful Spectrum 011 Duratec Formula Ford, the F2000 includes slick tyres and aerodynamic downforce via wings and diffuser.
